Caribbean Chic 🌴🐚

It’s been a while since I was frequently posting, which means I have plenty of updates to share from the past few weeks – including a sneak peek at some of the finds debuted during my recent holiday to the Caribbean!

My boyfriend and I decided on the destination some time ago, and I was counting down the days as soon as we hit September. We treated ourselves to a 11 day-long retreat to Punta Cana, a beautiful resort-focussed town on the East coast of the Dominican Republic – pure bliss! Obviously, I stocked up on bikinis prior to the departure date, including two firm favourites below.

Blue bikini: eBay (I know, what a find!).

Floral bikini top: H&M. Coral bikini bottoms: Victoria’s Secret.

I also used the time to debut some of my summer finds, including this coral wrap maxi and cream lace crop top combo. Complete with lashings of matte Mac lip colour in Honeylove, nude eyeshadow blended out for a natural holiday look, and some obligatory wooden bangles (holiday must-haves), I was set for the evening. Heated styling is also a no-no on holiday,  I opted to leave my hair showing off its natural curls.

Top: Zara. Skirt: ASOS. Bangles: Assorted.

Henry’s In The House…

Working in social media means I get to enjoy plenty of perks, one of the best which happened just this week…

We’d been working on a project with Habitat to help launch their new range with designer Henry Holland for the last few months, and the big night came round much sooner than expected. This big night I speak of consisted of a VIP party, where Henry himself was able to introduce his stylish new range for the homewear brand.

If you follow Henry Holland, or have ever seen one of his many fashion show, you’ll know his signature style, and the range screamed just that. Inspired by none other than the trippy cult classic ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’- we were surrounded by armchairs covered in his SS16 bug prints, to cushions with leopard print and fluorescent hues. Basically, furnishings that would sit comfortably (#pun) at home in any style queens (or kings) living room.

The night was a success, and we were even able to fit in a cheeky cocktail or two after the hard work was complete. And to answer your question yes I did manage to sneak in a selfie with the man himself 🙂

Earning My Stripes

For anyone who knows me they’ll be familiar with the fact I am pretty much obsessed with anything striped – especially tops!

My latest splurge on a recent visit to Birmingham’s Bullring was no exception, as amongst other spring-friendly accessories (shown below) I scooped up this adorable striped tie collar blouse whilst browsing the Topshop rails in Selfridges.

I ❤ the simplicity – it’ll be perfect teamed with denim cut offs (hello Daisy Dukes!) in the warmer months, and a simple colour block mini/midi skirt (or even maxi) come next month.

On my way to the till my eyes were averted once again, and I grasped these cute gold midi rings, and these beautiful earrings – perfect for adding a little bit of extra OMPH to any casual wear.

My last purchase (again, whilst standing in the queue!) was this Misguided midi leather number, in a beautiful dusky pink hue. I’m thinking teamed with a simple cream blouse or tee…

She’s So Shady

Much to my delight, we seem to have finally bagged ourselves a one-way ticket to spring. To celebrate, I decided on a recent trip to Birmingham Bullring (more goodies to come) to treat myself to a new pair of aviator shades.

Now I know £12 isn’t really buying to last, but similar to wine glasses (!) I seem to have a tendency to drop/smash these with ease, much like I managed to on my jollies in Cancun last October…

I opted for this classic silver pair – perfect with pretty much anything, but here a few outfit options off the top of my head include:

  • Ripped spray-on-skinnies & a boho cami
  • Black side split maxi skit & bright cami
  • Foaty floral mini dress & diamante flat sandals
  • and the ultimate match.. BIKINI & sandy surroundings 😉

Boots Beauty Loot

With no motivation to lather on any fake tan during this final push through winter (just to cover it up under 60 denier tights), and with my Cancun tan completely faded away, I decided my usual foundation was looking a tad too dark.

I’ve usually always opted for MAC’s Studio Sculpt, but trying to keep an eye on the pennies this month led me to take a trip down the isles of L’oreal during my latest trip to Boots, to see if I could bag a lighter shade at a cheaper price.

I was not looking to compromise on coverage, and ‘INFALLIBLE’ 24hour matte foundation immediately caught my eye. At £7, I was able to add a few other treats to my basket in the process, including Origin’s Super Spot Remover (after seeing rave reviews online) and a No.7 Beautiful Skin eye pen to banish those bags!

I have to say the foundation is one of the best I’ve ever used – my take-outs are:

  • Lightweight
  • Powdery finish – not sticky like some which clog your pores!
  • Smooth application

I’ll definitely be purchasing again! I’ve not tried out the No.7 pen just yet, but I’ll be sure to post when I have done. Secure results are yet to be seen from the Origin’s Super Spot Remover, but I’ll be sure to keep you updated. Judging by it’s reviews, it’s a miracle worker!

In Vogue: February

At this moment in time, with the sun shining and one or two birds chirping away in the distance, my mind has suddenly surged forward to warmer days and hazy evenings.

In light of this, February’s In Vogue comes in the form of this stunning H&M scuba skirt, which I recently bought online for a bargain £39.99. I’ve never usually been a fan of the larger, more structured skirts, usually opting for a slick pencil, or A-Line mini, but I thought this was an exception.

I love the colourful butterfly pattern – although it’s quite busy I can also see it being extremely versatile. As the warmer months creep forward I’ll be teaming with a white sleeveless shirt or simple colour block tee, and accessorising with simple earrings, bangles and perhaps a statement ring, depending on the occasion.

The only shoes suitable for this specific length have to be heels – it’s a no brainer. I’ll be opting for my new ankle strap tan pair, which I recently ordered from New Look – look out for my blog post on these gems in the coming days ❤ x x x

February Favourites <3

We made it! We’ve escaped the worst month of the year and are on a one way road to lighter mornings, better weather and dreams of a summer getaway (too soon?). With this in mind, and to celebrate the end of a wage-drought since before Christmas (gulp!) I decided to celebrate by treating myself to a handful of new additions to my ever-expanding make-up bag. ❤

I can never resist MAC, especially as I have to pass it on the way to the car park (!). I could spend hours lusting after the abundance of colours on the lipstick stands, each one drawing me in, despite the obese collection I already own. This time, I spent a good 5 minutes streaking a selection of dark nude shades across the back of my hand, finally opting for ‘Honeylove‘, a shade which I thought suited my fair skin tone best.

Nipping into Boots for some toiletries ended with me leaving with a fresh bottle of my favourite scent ‘Boss Orange‘, in a handbag-friendly EDT 30ml size. I particularly like this as I remember Sienna Miller used to feature on the advert (#WCW alert). I’ve also been meaning to invest in a primer which reduces pores for a while, and whilst queuing I spotted Benefit’s ‘Porefessional‘, at only £10 for a mini size it would be rude not to!

My shopping trip wasn’t all about beauty picks, I also bagged some bargain grey ballet pumps from H&M, a steal at only £8!

If any of you fancy purchasing any of my latest buys for yourself, the links are all in the wording ❤

In Vogue: January

A little late to the party due to a busy month, but my January In Vogue hands down has to be the latest addition to my wardrobe: my ASOS black denim distressed dungarees – a steal at only £35!

I’m a huge fan of the dungaree trend, and already have a dark denim dungaree mini dress purchased back in Autumn, also from ASOS (can you spot a theme here).

I wore these new purchase on a night out in London last week, layered over a dusky pink tee and thick black tights (it IS winter still after all). To finish, I added my tan ankle ALDO boots and my soft black leather-look jacket, one of my favourite buys from River Island last winter. The look was perfect for this time of year, and I’m sure as spring approaches I’ll be pairing them with more pastel tones for a girly feel, and eventually sandals/cork wedges come summer time!

If you love them as much as I do, you can still buy them on ASOS -> here.
